T.O.V.N.I.N.G SMÅLAND

RURAL CRAFTSMANSHIP & TEXTILE ART

T.O.V.N.I.N.G Småland is a regional project made in collaboration with my groupmate Ranim Karkoor and our regional collaborator Hemslöjden i Kronoberg in Växjö, Sweden. It focuses on Småland's traditional craftsmanship within textile art, focusing on felting and tells the story of Smålands traditional craft culture, how it can be adapted to the modern world, and how these traditions can still change and evolve while also keeping their meaning.

NOUR HASSAN METWALLY & RANIM KARKOOR

“T.O.V.N.I.N.G SMÅLAND is a regional project that weaves together the forgotten threads of rural life, where our hands once spoke through fabric and stories that lived in every stitch. In collaboration with Hemslöjden i Kronoberg, the project brings these practices of storytelling, sound, and shared memory to life. As rural landscapes and norms evolve, this project asks: How do we carry forward the hands, voices, and textures of the past? What does it mean to make, remember, and belong?”
